When she was 96 they took her license away for going 80 miles in a 50. She was a riot that old lady and I adored her. There is a better drug than Comoudin called Xarelto but it's pretty pricey. About nine bucks a pill. Heartwarming story as always...ciaoRosittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05722304052321553692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-52071565454121897112010-06-09T10:03:29.780-04:002010-06-09T10:03:29.780-04:00I'm going to be a jerk and say that it's p...I'm going to be a jerk and say that it's probably a good thing she is not driving. Elderly drivers are at least as dangerous as teenage ones. Imagine if this had been a car accident from wet roads instead of just a slip and bang on the head.

Yes, tires are not shoes, etc. But it's still the truth: many elderly drivers could not pass a driving test today and probably should not be on the road.Moosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10397412122635951126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-33501845822806606072010-06-08T20:04:14.221-04:002010-06-08T20:04:14.221-04:00I've never heard of holding a table knife agai...I've never heard of holding a table knife against a "goose-egg" bump on the head, but then I have just one daughter, and she managed not to bash herself that hard as she was growing up.

The coumadin issue can be a worry, and a danger. My Dad had been taking coumadin for years when he fell and bumped his head in the kitchen. He suffered a bleed inside his skull, between the lining of the brain and the brain, and it ultimately took his life. Had he not been on coumadin, would the bleed have been as bad? Would he have bled at all? Hard to say.

You were very sweet with that nice old lady. She must feel so alone -- but she's obviously not helpless. I was much younger at the time, and thought it was a strange thing to say, but now I understand.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16505134228454833619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-85684056600639530282010-06-07T16:18:24.562-04:002010-06-07T16:18:24.562-04:00First of all, I find it ironic that today's st...First of all, I find it ironic that today's story is about a woman with a goose-egg... I almost earned my own goose-egg last night when I plunged off my bed and into the drawer of my bedside table. At the point of no return I noticed my forehead would collide with the corner of the drawer and decided the pen on the floor I was reaching for was not worth stitches... the pencil in my hand would stuffice.

Second, I'm glad she's ok! It's sad she had no one to visit her. The fact that the grocer gave her a cart is also heartwarming, despite a bit odd.

I hope you have a great week!
<>< KatieKatie Axelsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09361471654719262744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-55099112976968723342010-06-07T11:55:04.355-04:002010-06-07T11:55:04.355-04:00I wonder what happened to her laundry? Or did someone helpfully take it home?

She sounds like a neat old gal. I wish someone nearby would "adopt her". Many of us have grandparents in different states, or deceased grandparents or parents. Its nice to be able to adopt some elderly man or woman.
