The motto I seem to have conformed to, if I look back and try to summarize the last 10 or 15 years of my life is definitely "live and let live". People come in an array of configurations, and I think that there is too much irrational hatred floating around. Which, appropriately, brings me to one of my favorite movies, Crash (Paul Haggis), along these same lines.
I suppose Imagine by John Lennon would tie this trio together, but no, this is not my favorite song!Calhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17204635978443190089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-31987096172233101192010-01-04T12:40:05.733-05:002010-01-04T12:40:05.733-05:00"A candle loses nothing by lighting another c..."A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle." I have been on a journey to understand a rare, neurological condition that effected my son and have spent much time researching for correct treatment and "answers" in a disease that lacks much of either.I also began teaching, which I thoroughly enjoy, and strive to be the kind of teacher I always enjoyed. So, my quote is:

"Knowledge is power and knowledge shared is power multiplied" by Robert Noyce

My song is not the least bit inspirational but instead, highlights my sense of humor in life...helps me get through crazy 12 hour ER shifts- "God is great, beer is good and people are crazy!"

Love your posts!911RNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11697968739358691531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-26087716874178765522010-01-01T23:03:25.491-05:002010-01-01T23:03:25.491-05:00I tried to pose this same challenge to our full mi...I tried to pose this same challenge to our full minivan this afternoon. The poster was a picture against a lush garden background,of a beautiful butterfly having just emerged from it's cocoon.

She told me that butterflies are symbolic of hope and new beginnings. And she told me that butterflies are also symbolic of the resurrection.

To this day ..if a butterfly passes by ..I take it as a God wink ..that he's just saying hi or all is well or will be. Butterflies evoke a smile every time... and I also think of that quote and my friend. :)

Change can be scary. And due to circumstances out of my control these last 4 years and due to some things self imposed ..I feel very much stuck in a rut ..when I know I need to change a lot of things... and move forward... especially lifestyle changes for optimum health and getting a job.

Everyone's quotes here are terrific ..but Artdoctor .. your patient's quote really speaks to my heart "with possibility and opportunity follows movement, and this is the key to a healthy life." When you are stuck in a rut, all you have to do is try to move."

I stayed in bed extra long (3 hours longer)today ..even after I was awake. I opened the shade so the sun could shine on me and I was praying about different things..changes I wanted to make and for others I wanted to help. My heart is heavy with concerns for others and I would drift off then wake and pray and so on.

Jim ..yours is the first post I have read and it is so apropos for my life at this time. If I could just attain the most important goals ..the ripple effect would be a blessing to others as well.

Regarding changing the world .. I heard something neat once. The person was discussing how frustrating it is sometimes when so many people are in need of help and we are limited in what we can do. She said that we may not be able to help the whole word ..but we can make a difference in our little corner of the world ..one person, one circumstance at a time ..even if it's just baking someone a plate of cookies. I don't recall all of it, but I am pretty sure she broke it down to where you work, your family, your street or city block. You can find someway to help, be an example for good and make a difference.

Sorry about the long comment. THAT should be a New Year's resolution : I will write no more than 3 paragraphs in comment sections. :)

Happy and Blessed New Year to all! :)SeaSprayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07906503090688697222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-76135524645591381652010-01-01T15:13:29.300-05:002010-01-01T15:13:29.300-05:00My motto comes from a patient who could not hold o...My motto comes from a patient who could not hold on, but while he did, was able to put this together so eloquently and encouraged me to believe that "with possibility and opportunity follows movement, and this is the key to a healthy life." When you are stuck in a rut, all you have to do is try to move.

It may not be that easy all the time, and so I like this quote by Da Vinci, who seems to normalize any difficult situation:

"Life is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then you do something else. The trick is the doing something else."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7558528804236989500.post-31937870398318992252010-01-01T11:58:39.186-05:002010-01-01T11:58:39.186-05:00"When the clouds grows heavy with moisture th..."When the clouds grows heavy with moisture the rains will surely come.
